'Wolverine' Is Getting His Own PS5 Game From Spider-Man Studio Insomniac
Yesterdays PlayStation 5 revealed that an Insomniac game is being developed for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The game may not surprise you considering the critical and commercial success of the 2018 game and the spin off Miles Morales last year, but at least it's nice to get some tough confirmation in the making. Indeed, Insomniac's Wolverine is the latest in a long line of PlayStation-exclusive Marvel titles to come. In what looks like good news for gaming fans, Marvel Studios has announced that Marvel's Wolverine will be the latest team-up in the super-strong action adventure series.
Much of the development team that brought you Marvel's Spider-Man will return to produce their epic single-player adventure that will be released in 2023 on PlayStation 5 consoles, including Bryan Intihar (Creative Director) and Ryan Smith (Game Director). Schneider also confirmed that Wolverine's stand alone game will be played by Brian Horton (creative director) and Cameron Christian (game director). Marvel's Wolverine is also supported by Horton, Christian and Miles Morales.
We don't know the details of the story or gameplay of Marvel's Wolverine, but with Insomniac at the helm, one of Sony's most notable first-party studios, we can expect the game to be of a similar quality to the Spider-Man games the studio has developed over the years. The studio has gained Marvel's trust by taking its time and getting a big team behind the game, and it also shows that it wants to work with other series like Ratchet & Clank. We don't have much in mind, but Wolverine is a video game developed by an Insomniac studio, and like the recent Spider-Man games, it's a good sign that certain quality standards are being met.
The goal in the spirit of our Spider-Man games is not only to respect the DNA of what makes Spider-Man so popular but also to look for ways to make it feel fresh and reflect the spirit of Insomniac. This approach applies to everything we work on in our studio, and it has been a pleasure to work with Marvel on this game. Wolverine was always meant to be a stand-alone game, but the creative team is miles apart.
Are you looking forward to a stand-alone Wolverine Game?
