'Pokemon Legends: Arceus' Trailer Shows Off An All-New Battle System
The battles will be turn-based, with Pokemon phrases shifting their respective statistics to different pages, similar gadgets dictating the order of actions and the number of creatures hit.
It is a different variant of Pokemon Go, with developers tweaking the fighting system to follow an almost identical strategy. Pokemon is restricted to only four moves at a time, with an agile style and a strong style system that can change the course of a battle and make the difference between victory and defeat. It is a completely different variant of the Pokemon method than the combat system developed by developer Game Freaks, which uses almost identical strategies.
The new gameplay trailer contains the revelation that the upcoming game will feature a completely revamped combat system. It looks like the game will change its turn-based fighting style massively. The game will also include new combat mechanisms, a new regional form, and new regions to explore.
Hundreds of years after the events of the main franchise, the game will let players explore the continent of Sinnoh, a region that was introduced in the fourth generation of Pokemon games but in a form that means we will see some brand new places. Fans of the franchise will notice some familiar Pokemon as well as some new creatures destined exclusively for the Hisui region. Pokemon Legends will feature regional variants of Pokémon adapted to life in the region just like sun and moon: sword and shield.
The trailer also shows the player using Basculegion, an evolution of the fish Pokemon Basculin, on a water-based mount, which is somewhat alarming in this story. A number of rocks are shown in the new footage, suggesting that Gen 1 Pokemon in this new game will have a second type of Pokemon, making them a fire and rock type. The new gameplay trailer also sheds light on the mechanics of open world, showing that players can ride Pokemon versions of famous monsters that are exclusive to versions of the Sinnoh Region (now the Hisui Region) from an earlier era.
Set in the Hisui region of the game, the game features a brand new open world adventure that takes place during Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl events. The new game is to be released in Heui Region on 28 January 2022, which has become the Sinnoh Region where Pokemon Diamond and Pearl took place. Players will return to Sinnoh following the events of Pokemon Diamonds and Pokemon Pearls.
Arceus will be the first ever open-world Pokemon franchise game that allows players to wander through a world full of creatures that can be captured in real time.
