Playrix Games Website Is Directing Traffic To Malware Site Says Intrusion
Intrustion Detection Systems (IDs) are software applications and hardware devices that monitor traffic moving through a network or system, search for suspicious activity or known threats, and send warnings when they find such items. ID technology has difficulty detecting malware in encrypted traffic, experts say. The Intrusion Risk Research Team documented a suspicious relationship between the activity implied by the malware distribution and the infiltrated organization, taking into account Russian reputable websites such as Playrix and Yandex.
Davis explained that his threat researchers were able to see the path of the gaming site through an unusual behavior Java script appearing on the site to redirect visitors to a subdomain of Yandex which exposed users and devices to the risk of malware on the network of organizations. The Intrusion Threat Research team also documented suspicious relationships and activities that indicated that a malware distribution group was infiltrating Russian websites such as Playrix and YandEX that were reputable and secure. When IDS detects traffic that is problematic for a particular software, it alerts the company, but when it detects a known attack on the Firefox browser that the company is using, it does not alert the company that is using another browser.
In 2015 Playrix let AWS take over the backend workload for its games, a transition begun in 2014 when its free mobile game Township became so popular that the company's infrastructure couldn't handle the load.
The speed and distribution of incoming traffic can limit the effectiveness of intrusion detection systems in the company. He said companies need to understand that these systems require maintenance and consider whether they should support IDS or opt out altogether.
Playrix was founded in 2004 and is known for titles such as Township, Fishdom, Gardenscape, Homescape, Wildscapes, Wildscape, Manor Matters and more which have appeared since their release on the iOS App Store and Google Play as the top 50 most popular apps in the market.
Playrix is the world's largest mobile gaming platform responsible for mobile games such as Fishdom, Township, Homescape and Gardenscape. With AWS services, Playrix processes and stores over 5 TB of data for its marketing partners. At AWS, we have built a scale system to cope with dramatic load peaks and process huge amounts of data to gain insights that will enable us to not only remain a leading competitor in the gaming industry, but also improve the end-user experience of our applications.
