Jake Paul & Soulja Boy sued over SafeMoon crypto
Jake Paul, Soulja Boy and many other celebrities have been indicted for their involvement in what Safemoon calls a so-called "cryptocurrency scam." Three plaintiffs are suing SafeMoon LLC, the company behind the SAFEMOON token, and several "prominent promoters," including Jake Paul and Soulja Boy, for promoting and selling the SafeMoon cryptocurrency. Three plaintiffs are seeking damages and compensation for losses they believe resulted from their investment in SafeMoon LLC.
The proposed new class action alleges that in partnership with Jake Paul, the other defendants are SafeMoon LLC and its subsidiaries, SafeMoon founder and CEO Braden John Caroni and other SafeMoon senior executives - SafeMoon LLC, its SafeMoon founder and CEO Braden John Caroni sold SafeMoon without disclosing their control of both the company and the significant amount of SafeMoon's digital assets available for public trading. Following the issuance of SafeMoon tokens, company executives recruited and hired celebrities such as Paul, Carter, Soulja Boy, Lil Yachty, and Phillips to promote the asset, primarily through Twitter, Reddit, and YouTube, a new class action rebroadcast proposal. It's important to note that when celebrities like Paul signed up to "pump" SafeMoon's tokens, SafeMoon began making announcements to investors about "burning the tokens" or permanently removing a number of tokens from the outstanding supply, the lawsuit says. As the proposed new class action claims, the rosy news about the SafeMoons crypto wallet helped stabilize token trading volume.
Defendants in A New's proposed class action include Jake Paul, Nick Carter, Soulja Boy, Lil Yachty, and YouTuber Ben Phillips, who, according to the complaint, played a key role in pumping the SafeMoon cryptocurrency token on social media and thereby inflating its value. In just two months, SafeMoon has engineered an inflated $4 billion market value from influencers like Jake Paul, Soulja Boy and now Dave Portnoy. SafeMoon embodies the meme token hype better than almost any cryptocurrency in history. SafeMoon rolled out with 1 quadrillion tokens (15 zeros) and is constantly burning supplies, hinting at a growing shortage.
Like other DeFi projects, SafeMoon relies on a liquidity pool to encourage holders to bid on tokens in order to acquire more, similar to maturing bonds but with a volatile cryptocurrency. The founders of SafeMoons have access to SAFE tokens, making a black swan event much more likely, according to Singapore-based CertiK. In particular, CertiK discovered that SafeMoon was created by insiders to reward a single "owner" address with a significant amount of SAFE tokens over time. Its white paper lacks clarity, but the team has raised over $1 million in cryptocurrencies (mostly BNB and BSC) to create the SafeMoon wallet.
