EA Sports is deleting ex-Raiders coach Jon Gruden from 'Madden NFL 22'
Several people within the organization have condemned his actions following the NFL coach's exposure of several misogynistic, homophobic and racist messages in the past. The contents of an email Gruden sent to Bruce Allen, General Manager and President of the Washington Football Team in 2011 were first reported by the Wall Street Journal in 2011. After the resignations, the fallout continued from the emails when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced they were retiring their former coach from their honor ring.
Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden resigned as Team's Head Coach after reports surfaced that homophobic, racist and misogynistic emails had been uncovered as part of an investigation into the Washington football team's workplace misconduct. Gruden was also removed from the Raiders' ring of honor earlier this week following his resignation. Gruden, a disgraced former Raiders coach and one-time Monday Night Football analyst, came under fire on October 8 after the Wall Street Journal reported that EA Sports reviewed more than 650,000 emails in its popular video game series Madden NFL that were part of an investigation into workplace misconduct at the Washington football team during the summer.
In the first email, which came to light in 2011, American football coach Jon Gruden called out the executive director of the NFL Players Association DeMaurice Smith in racist language. According to the Times report, Gruden also sent numerous other offensive emails. The emails included one in which Gruden used a racist slogan to describe the NFL Players Assn.
Jon Gruden's leaked emails were discovered during an investigation of the Washington Football team, and his correspondence dates back to his days as a media personality on ESPN. As is customary these days when an athlete or coach is turned into a piece of shit, EA Sports moves Jon Gruden, the hated little man, from his Madden 22. The removal of a real person from an off-field Madden controversy is no new territory for the show, as EA Aaron Hernandez cut from Madden NFL 25 and Ray Rice cut from Madden NFL 15.
