Apex Legends announces plans for season 2 of the ALGS
EA and Respawn today announced the Winter Circuit Apex Legends Global Series, the next series of contests for Apex Legends esports, with a prize pool of $750,000. Regional events will continue through December, where last-chance playoffs will be held. EA also revealed details of the APEX Legends Autumn Circuit, which will see a whopping $500,000 up for grabs around the world.
ALGS Championship is the third most watched Fall Apex Legends event and one of Twitch's rival tournaments, with streamers competing in the Japanese Crazy Raccoon Cup 5 Championship. ALGS Championship NA is the most popular Apex Legends esports tournament among the English-speaking audience, in other words. The event which sees 80 of the top Apex teams from the world play in a double elimination group, and the Apex Legends Global Series Winter Circuit Playoffs attract an average of 100,000 spectators per minute, with the latter recording a 50% increase in the most watched tournament.
The tournament is dividing the series as well as the previous online events, into five regions with a prize pool of $1 million. As a result, Europe and North America receive the largest prize pools, as it is the North American discipline that has the largest IT and American teams that spectators can follow.
It seems that a long series of tournaments that are so prestigious can bore the audience with the discipline and lose viewers, but the final proves to be the best possible for the game and the makers of the game.
There were lots of mistakes, technical issues and more teams lost games during the competition. The integrity of the competition was an issue that frustrated many teams. Many unnerved names got their time in the spotlight, and teams that looked good at the start of Apex Legends competition series got a good wake-up call.
The top 20 teams from each online event who make their way to the Major One-Way Tournament will be paid for their accommodation and travel expenses. Sales of five different skin bundles will be added to the total price pool and will reach $1,580,590 USD, which will be increased for each region. In addition to the prize money from the online tournaments, two GLL Paris Premier events will take place on April 24th and 26th. The Paris Premier event will feature a prize pool of USD 100K that was originally planned but has been postponed.
ALGS Year Two has a total prize pool of $5 million and plans to compete in three different events this season if conditions permit. In addition, players will have their second opportunity to earn ALGS Points, which are used to bet and award reserved seats at majors. There will be no splitting of the ALGS points line to compensate for the lack of live event qualification
