1 year since Docs Ban What do we know?
Dr. Disrespect was officially banned this same time over a year ago and since then there has been a plethora of theories as to why. First lets go through what’s been said and seemingly how much weight did they hold.
1. Criminal charges against Dr. Disrespect were coming out
Probably one of the most popular and one of the first theories that came out was that Dr. Disrespect had a sexual assault lawsuit that was coming out against him from a employee at Twitch and Twitch was getting ahead of the issue by banning Doc.
2. Dr. Disrespect, Ninja and Shroud are opening a new streaming platfrom
This theory caught fire on Twitter and the internet that these 3 a team seemingly wanted to create a streaming platform that would rival and or bury Twitch. This was quickly debunked by shroud himself who explained just how hard it is to create a streaming platform, how much money it takes and effort. Which of course makes sense Mixer was backed by Microsoft a Multi-billion dollar corporation and they ultimately failed. Twitch is backed by Amazon and they of course have a multitude of issues that turns off their streamers daily and YouTube and Facebook Gaming are still trying to find their footing in the streaming word. With that type of money and resources they still can’t get it all right. What could those 3 do seemingly.
3. Dr. Disrespect tried to under cut Twitch’s offer with a fake offer from Mixer
This theory is a more recent theory that’s caught fire lately which says that during negotiations with Twitch Dr. Disrespect allegedly told Twitch that he had a huge offer from Mixer and asked if they could match and or beat it. Supposedly Doc did this knowing that Mixer was going under and their was no deal on the table. Once twitch found out they were understandably upset and banned Doc.
These 3 theories have been the most popular and understandably why. In a digital age and at a time when everyone seems to want their 15 minutes of fame it’s extremely shocking how tight lipped Twitch and Doc have been which of course has led to the conspiracy theories. When people can’t find the answers they’re looking for they will turn to what they can make up. Maybe one day we will understand why Doc got banned. But my guess is the truth will be underwhelming compared to the conspiracies.
